I have been on 900 mg of seroqel for years now for sleep but my heart rate is increasing to the 160s and SOB, I wanted to go to the hospital last night.  I can't sleep without it but this is miserable,  what should I do?

Does your pdoc know about the increase in heart rate?............Are you taking the Seroquel for sleep only?

If you are taking it just for sleep, there are many other options out there......Are you taking any other meds?.....

I would really be concerned if my heart rate was that high......Please let your pdoc know about it, and also please get in to see a cardiologist as soon as you can.

Go to hospital ER right away if you ever feel you need to---but don't drive yourself, call 911 for an ambulance.

There is a whole world of meds that can help you sleep. Try another and keep going until you find one that works for you. It is the adrenergic effects of the AD that are pushing your heart rate up. The heart is regulated in part by noradrenaline so when you take a med that increases this neurotransmitter you have a possibility of having heart effects.

That's a pretty massive dose for just sleep, unless you're also treating something else with seroquel.

Echoing the other replies, there's a whole world of meds that can help with that.

How about hydroxyzine? Usually fairly benign, 1st generation anti-histamine.
