Lowering Klonopin dose? Good or bad idea?

Recommended Posts

Well I know I’m not the “calmest” or “least anxious” person in the world. Yikes.

BUT, I really sometimes feel that my noon dose of Klonopin could be PRN. So I’d take 1 mg AM and MAYBE 1 mg noon and 1 mg late evening. My big issue with the afternoon dose is that I don’t want it to make me tired. It doesn’t always but sometimes I wonder if it does. I had been taking daily 1.5 mg successfully after decreasing my daily dose from 3 mg years ago. Well anxiety slammed me semi recently and Pdoc upped my dose back to 3 mg.

To be honest sometimes I do skip my noon Klonopin 1mg dose. And I don’t want to become dependent on a high dose. I’d probably have to take the noon dose maybe 1-7 (if times were rough) times a week. Is this even worth it? And I find myself pretty anxious by late evening. Evenings are my most difficult times. Maybe I could split the evening dose? (0.5 mg noon, 0.5 mg evening) There’s an idea!

Am I lying to myself and just take the damn pill? Or do I bring this up to Pdoc?

I take 1mg in the AM and sometimes 1mg before sleep.  It doesn't make me tired, but it keeps me from getting over stimulated when I'm in a noisy area or around a lot of people.  I think my Dr. wants to have me try and get off of it.  She's worried about my health since I've been on it for almost 10 years.  I'm worried about it like you.  Definitely ask your Dr. about it.  The withdrawal is nothing to mess around with.

Doesn't the wait suck?  My brother is very successful, unlike me and he can get into his Dr. whenever he wants.  $150 a pop for him is pocket change..

Yes it does suck! I wish I could see my Dr whenever I needed. $150 is a lot of money. Yikes.
