dolph9
37 year old male internist here. Had depression in 2001, 2007, and now again, with panic attacks at night, insomnia, and I've realized how much time I've wasted. America is crazy and will make you crazy. I've learned to accept this. I may move within the country and change jobs, I may move out altogether, what can you do. Currently managing with cocktail of supplements, teas, foods, and changing my habits. Have some klonopin but haven't taken yet. I've also tried online therapy. Let's see where this goes. Thanks everyone and best of luck!
deckpoop
Have you considered a face to face therapy? Are you seeing a psychiatrist? If you are a doctor yourself I would think you have access to that, but i am not American so I don't know how it works. Best of luck to you too and I hope you get the best care you can for yourself. jt07
Hi and welcome aboard! I'm glad you found us and decided to join. Quite a few of us suffer from depression and anxiety so you'll be in good company here. Just a word of caution from personal experience ... supplements/teas etc. are not very effective. If they worked we would hear about it all over the news. I wasted literally thousands on supplements before I gave in and got pharmaceutical help. So I suggest that you see a psychiatrist and get on an antidepressant with anti-anxiety properties. A lot of us here are hard cases with treatment resistance so many of us are on meds for life. That is unlikely the case for you. You probably just need a hand up out of the pit. A good therapist can help you learn how to cope so that you don't wind up back in the pit. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you posting on the boards.
RisingRayne
I'm a depressed, anxious, sometimes paranoid pharmacist. I'm not sure if it makes you feel any better. You can talk to me. I agree with seeking help. Sure it will feel embarrassing, not to mention answering the, "So what do you do for a living" question. But you have come this far. I applaud you. I want to thank you for all the hard work you do for people who do not care or are not happy anyways. Thank you. And you likely went into medical school for the right reasons. We need people like you. YOU make a difference whether you feel it or not. This is where putting an ounce of faith in yourself pays back tenfold. Again message me if you want. I do not recommend OTC option, but if that is all you are willing to do, lemme at least give you some guidance. I too can relate to the lost life experience. I should have been treated for anxiety/panic attacks in grade school and more in college. It hurts but I can only move forward.
