BipolarSpinster
When I first started Lamictal, like 20 years ago, it worked great...now I’m just having all kinds of problems with depression-and now a mixed episode. Does anyone know if it can lose its umph after this long?

Blahblah
This is my 2nd time on Lamictal. About 10 years ago, I was on 300-400mg, but was having cognitive side effects/balance and some weird vision issues, I went down and then had a lapse in medical insurance, so I went off. I have been on it again for 2 years (only 100mg) and I had added an A/D because I was wondering if it was actually doing anything. I can't take much more as I have some side effects that I don't like. I feel like it's helping a bit with stabilizing, but it doesn't always cut the bad depressive episodes enough. Anyway, can't really answer your question, but I know many people that are on high doses of meds long term experience a sort of poop-out and need to use an add-on or make dose increase...especially during times of stress or change :-( Edited May 31, 2018 by Blahblah

That’s good to know. I’m gonna see about switching it to topamax for the wt loss benefit. Same brain fog , but less weight! Thanks ?
