Sexual Dysfunction after taking Risperdal (Really Worried Please Help)

So about 3 weeks ago i wen't to the doctor because i was suffering from OCD and had enough, so he prescribed me Risperdal. It caused me to feel sick, tired and not myself and  I had NO libido while taking it.  I used to be able to get hard at just a thought, now it doesn't work at all .... iT'S MAKING ME EXTREMELY Worried !  I've been only on it 3 weeks and I went back to the doctor and he said it's a side effect and got him to take me off it. My question is, am i screwed now for life, also since being off the tablets for 3 days now i have bad guilty feeling in my stomach, like a deep pit and i get sick when i eat and have diarrhea.

@Irishguy23, what dose of Risperdal were you on?.....And did you taper off it, or just stop cold turkey?

If you stopped it cold turkey, what you are experiencing now could be withdrawal symptoms, even though you were only on it for a relatively short time.

IMO, give it a little more time.....You have only been off it for 3 days........It also might be a good idea to let your doc know what you're experiencing.....

If you stopped cold turkey, you are most likely experiencing withdrawal symptoms.....Did your doc approve you stopping cold turkey?...........It may take a few more days for the Risperdal to totally leave your system....

Ya he said it was okay for me to stop, but should my penis go back to normal after i'm off it long enough or am i screwed, because i've read people saying there penis's still don't work 6 months after quieting and it's making me worry

Below is a thread from this site posted by someone with a similar problem to yours........after reading through it, some men did say it took quite awhile for their sexual dysfunction to resolve, and some others said their sexual dysfunction resolved more rapidly.

So I guess it depends on the individual person.....There are solutions, though.....I would suggest getting your prolactin levels checked, since high prolactin can cause sexual problems......

Also, it might be a good idea to get testosterone levels checked.....If your testosterone levels are below normal, your doctor can prescribe supplemental testosterone.

It's not permanent.

Don't forget that libido doesn't do well with anxiety/worry.

The more relaxed you are the better your sex drive is....

It is about 100 hours to clear from your blood but don't expect things to resolve immediately, your dopamine system will take a while to reset itself. The important thing is that things will return to normal with time.
