It really is. This city is full of it. I'm so annoyed that they got rid of the memorial. We need it there to remind people that misogyny is deadly. Both of my countries most deadliest attacks on civilians have been done by men who resented women.

Also lol at the fact that OP gets reported for "misandry" and "villainising of men" :D

@jt07

From We Hunted The Mammoth:

Quote

Incel: Involuntarily Celibate. A term, and identity, adopted by some dateless guys (as well as some women, but it’s the men we’ll focus on here). While there is nothing shameful about being dateless, or a virgin, or having a really long dry spell sexually — most of us have been there at some point — the term “involuntarily celibate” seems to suggest that the world owes incels sex, and that women who turn down incel men for dates or sex are somehow oppressing them. For those (male, straight) incels who are genuinely socially awkward or phobic, this can be a self-defeating stance that can lead to bitterness towards women. And often does.

They are people who desperately need therapy. They think being single means you either have to hate yourself or hate the opposite sex. Neither of those things are true.

There already have been headlines Cerberus, incels have a habit of going out and murdering women. :( Misogyny in general is the only thing almost all mass murderers have in common. Religion, political views, social status, mental illness, intelligence, these things do not correlate with murder or mass murder. Misogyny does.

My happiest times have been when I was single.  I don't understand this so called identity.  It's just extreme mysogyny under another name.  I sometimes read stuff from reddit and have become familiar with r/inceltears and some of it is so extremely out there I just can't read it.

Part of me wants to be sympathetic because many are obviously on the spectrum and so am I but at mey19 year old worst I was never that bad.  I also got on meds and did some therapy and now have been in a relationship for 20 years.  If I can do it, so can they.  It's really the self-reinforcing echo chambers on places like Reddit and the chans that let it spread.  Particularly now that they have started getting violent, I am sure every kind of social scientist is studying those places so at least it's good that it's all in public.

I agree with VE. Before being medicated and undergoing therapy, the fact that I couldn't get a girl made me very suicidal. I never believed a girl owed me sex nor did I stalk any girl or desire to hurt anyone but I can relate to being mentally tortured by the fact that you can't get a date. They definitely need to seek therapy.

i'm terrified of this growing movement...i see it on the internet in ways, too. i frequent another forum where you see threads about not getting a date because women only want alpha male types...and they so quickly dissolve into misogyny ..

i have a young daughter. it scares me that she might have to deal with people who view her as owing them anything sexually or even just friendship. we aren't entitled to those things. frankly, i don't think we're entitled to much in life. though i do think we have entered a new era with 45 in my country...he's admitted to sexually assaulting women and got elected anyway. there is still a "blame the victim" mentality that's being fed off of here.

As I see it, it's just another internet hate group. An unfortunate side effect of the otherwise wonderful internet is that it really brings out the haters and lets them reach out to find like-minded haters.

I don't dismiss it as being internet only. But I'll bet you it became a "movement" because of the internet. Of course, people program themselves and each other (reinforce each others beliefs) and that magnifies the hate, and it is bound to have real-world consequences.

So "Involuntarily Celibate" is an identity now. I just... I... I swear I'm reaching some kind of tipping point.

It's not going to be pretty.

There will probably be headlines.

A number of recent and early mass shooters were self-identified 'incels' that the movement radicalized.  They literally weaponize angry virgins into killers.

I don't think anyone's mentioned that the term 'incel' was coined by a woman. She set up a group and then left for some reason (She got laid I'm guessing). And then angry men took over. I don't lay any blame on her because I'm probably incel, but not in a dickish way. And she set it up as a place for the anxious people to talk about their difficulties finding relationships. That sounds good. How did that turn into an ideology for hating women? No-one wants to have sex with me! Thinks someone who'd drive a car into a crowd of people. Yeah that's a fucking mystery. Arsehole.
