Zoloft increased anxiety after increased dose

Hi guys,

Been on Zoloft for over a year. Just increased from 75 mg to 100 mg 8 days ago. My anxiety is through the roof. First 5 days after the increase was fine. No problem, then the anxiety skyrocket. 

Is this normal?

I don’t know that it’s normal, but Zoloft also increased my anxiety at higher doses. I couldn’t go above 75 mg without the side effects outweighing the benefits. I’m on Prozac now and don’t have this problem.

I'd say give it time. Anxiety is a common side effect when initiating an SSRI or when raising the dose. The anxiety should go away in 2-4 weeks. Afterwards, the SSRI should help your anxiety.

Like @Juniper29 I too had a threshold. Although I really couldn't go further than 50mg. The 75mg dose made me agitated and gave me a "cold" or "stoney" affect that I didn't like. A day or two after the increase to 75mg, I had someone ask me if something was wrong. That's when I knew it was time to go back down.
