Im coming off ssri/Snris after 20 years due to the fact that they’ve started to make me overheat, itch & they’ve stopped working. Bad intrusive thoughts all the time. Psych has put me on Reboxetine to try something different. I’ve just started n-acetylcisteine. Is it worth trying l-tryptophan or 5htp as well?

NAC is worth it, however the others assume there is a lack of neurotransmitter precursors. There isn't. Rate limiting steps make sure you can only get so much neurotransmitter out of precursors.

I spent literally 1000s looking for a supplement to help my depression, and nothing ever helped me much. I'd advise you to save your money and stick to pharmaceuticals and a healthy lifestyle.

NAC sounds interesting @notloki. Have you been taking it for awhile & noticed benefits? Which brand of Omegas/ALA do you take (I've heard high EPA level is important?) Is it just Hemp oil? I've been taking Fish oils, but some say "Krill Oil" is better??

I'm increasing supplementation as well. I take a multivitamin along with Omega3, Methylfolate, just starting CoQ10 (family has heart issues). I'm still trying to find a good probiotic as I've heard mood problems also are linked to your "gut health"...

Years ago, I tried l-tryptophan, 5htp and I did not notice any difference...tried Niacin for awhile (the kind that makes you flush) and that seemed to give me anxiety relief, better circulation and a sense of well being - could have just been placebo..) I wouldn't go overboard, as @jt07 said, all these supplements get expensive, and many are not scientifically proven to have benefit.
