Ive had to come off SSRI's/SNRIs due to very bad paraesthesia. I toughed it out for years but cant hack it anymore. Im on pregabalin 450mg, diazepem 10mg and recently started Reboxetine which whilst helping me feel like getting out of bed isnt touching the intrusive thoughts or the irritability and anger. The pregab and Diazepam combined with CBT and some Stoicism  keep the anger and irritability at just about bearable.  Anyone got any ideas for off label stuff i could suggest to the Psych? Is it possible that 25 years of SSRIs have made it so that any drug that touches serotonin is going to give me paraesthesia?

@Alexander search   I think I mentioned to you before about possibly trying an AAP (antipsychotic ) med in a low dose........You could bring it up it with your doc and see how they feel about trying an AAP.

There are also TCAs (tricyclic antidepressants), which are older antidepressants that are sometimes used for people that don't tolerate  SSRIs or SNRIs very well, but TCAs do affect serotonin.

yes im gonna need to try Clomipramine. im just assuming im gonna get paraesthesia cos its listed as a side effect. It seems anything serotonin related sets me off which was why the psych suggested Reboxetine. Any particular AAP you recommend for intrusive thoughts? ive been wary of them because I need to stay reasonably functional as I run my own business. ive probably read too many articles abut them being blunt instruments.

Well, there are quite a few AAPs to choose from......All I can tell you is that I have tried Seroquel, Thorazine, and Risperdal at low doses and they didn't work for me........However, that's not saying they wouldn't work for you, because we are all different.......

I will say that Thorazine was by far the most sedating, but it's an old generation typical AP, not an AAP.

I'm currently trying out Abilify and it doesn't seem to be working for me so far, but I've only been on it for a month, so I'm going to have to give it more time.

Have you tried lamictal or lithium?

Not sure if you were asking me or Alexander, but I've tried lithium, and it didn't work out for me.

Have never tried Lamactil,  my pdoc has never suggested it.......Do you think it could possibly work for OCD?

Latuda is really good for my paranoia and delusional thoughts.  It is also great for depression.  I was on 120mg before and felt really good.  But cogentin didn't halt the EPS, so I had to stop it.  It also helped a lot with anger.

I just started it again when I was in the hospital for depression.  Honestly, I need to get on a higher dose to get its full effect.  I am only on 60mg at the moment.  Probably need 100-120mg like I was on before.  If you try it and get EPS I recommend Propranolol as cogentin didn't do the trick for me.

Clozapine had very similar effects but I couldn't take the blood tests and weight gain.  It just gets old really quick, but it is a really good med.  I remember that after every increase in dosage I felt so much better.

This. Those would be my suggestions

I've read that pdocs will try lamictal for people who have depression but can't tolerate or fail on antidepressants. Lithium can also be used in some cases for regular depression and anxiety. If you are suicidal, lithium also has anti-suicidal properties.
