Fatigue on clonazepam

Recommended Posts

HI, I'm new to your board.  I need some help.  I will tell you some about my medical issues.   I'm hypothyroid and have been for years.  About 3 yrs ago I was diagnosed with a vertigo disorder called Vestibular Migraine (VM).  Its a type of migraine that you don't have the headache so much but instead you are constantly dizzy, feel like your floating, bobbing, rocking, swayiing, falling, leaning, get nausea, neck and head pain, but dizzy 24/7.  I was put on propranolol  20mgs twice a day for the headaaches and anxiety.  I also had general anxiety disorder which got 1000 times worse with the dizzy disorder.   So I was refered to a psychiatrist for the anxiety.  He put me on clonazepam .50mgs but I only take .25mgs once a day and have cut the morning dose of propranolol to  10mgs in the past few days because they think its causing the tiredness I feel.  I've been on the clonazepam for about 3 months, the first script was with Teva manufacturer then this scipt I've been on for about 3 weeks they changed manufacturer to Solco.  But I dont know if that would cause the tiredness, because  was feeling very tired on the teva also.  I"m curious how long does this take before the body adjusts?  Does anyone here take propranolol and clonazepam together?  I thought by now the fatigue would be gone.  Thanks for any help.

@dizzyfl, When do you take your clonazepam?.......If it's ok with your pdoc, it might be better to take it in the evening before you go to bed........Did your pdoc give any instructions on when to take it?

I've been taking 2mg clonazepam every night for 5 years now......If I remember correctly, for me it took about 6 months for the "tired" feeling to wear off after I first started it.

I can't give any advice regarding the propranolol, as I've never taken it....Hopefully someone else who takes both will respond ...

I take it in the morning.  He had put on the bottle to take at bedtime, but he told me to take it in the morning so that it helps the dizziness during the day.  I hope it doesnt take 6 months to wear off.  I thought eing on such a low dose of .25mgs it would be nothing, but apparently it is.   I also worry about the addiction part of it.  Thank you so much for your reply.

I had my Clonazepam dosage cut from 1mg in the AM to .25mg.  It was making me feel flat, tired and really depressed.  I feel much better now.  I have a lot more energy and the depression it caused has lifted.  Of course I have been on Klonopin for 10 years now, so unlike you, I am fully dependent on it.

I take 20mg of Propranolol in the AM when I take Latuda and I take another 20mg at night.  I use it for the EPS that Latuda causes.  I have not noticed any tiredness from the Propranolol.
