Made it thru the day today

Recommended Posts

Went to my HMO for the first time since my former primary mistreated me.  Everytime I would drive up to the building I could not go inside as a panic attack would hit me.

Made it thru selecting new glasses, but wanted to run out of there, was having shortness of breathe.

Then made it thru pharmacy to pick up scripts and lastly made it thru a flu shot.

The Zyprexa is dampening down the run-away anxiety/panic/agoraphobia so far and I found myself very much in the present moment.

I was soo proud of myself for making it thru the day :)

Thank you echolocation and Icebert *smiles*  for your validation of my achievement.  This was a momentous achievement going back into that building where trauma and abuse happened.  Clearly the Zyprexa is doing it's job.

Next week I have to go to the dreaded Division of Motor Vehicles to renew my ID.  That will be my next challenge.

Thank you echolocation !!!  Right now sitting thru a panic attack - have a vet appt with my new kitten today, major anxiety and worry.

Made it thru the vet appointment.... shrew  There were times I thought I would pass out from the exhaustion of trying to cope with the panic and anxiety, spent half of the exam in the bathroom, but made it all the way thru okay.  While in the bathroom, did counted breathing while looking at myself in the mirror and that helped to ground me.  Getting my kitten ready for neutering next week, then all his bloodwork, shots and neuter will be all done for one year.

congrats, vet appointments are so stressful! good job grounding yourself and getting through. neutering is a really simple operation that vets do hundreds of every year, so your kitty should be just fine. he'll be a bit out of it after the anesthesia, but in a day he'll be his old self. :-) it's good that you're doing everything to keep him healthy and safe.

Thank you echolocation !!  I wanted to curl up in the corner and become very small while in the exam room with the vet.  Fortunately I brought my new neighbor who also has MI and understands my fear over going and she was there to help me thru the exam.  Where I have worked in vet clinics in the past and handled the job very well assisting the vet, this is different when it's your own cat on the table being examined.  Still waiting for his pre-operative blood tests.  He sailed thru his feline leuk blood test and had his first series of that vaccine and the last FVRCP.  He has a infection around a baby tooth that will have to be extracted which I will allow them to do.  Yes, I have assisted in many neuturings in the past.  Also, since he fell off the chair and injured his back leg, there is concern he may now have a CCL tear in the elbow joint or luxating patella which I fear.  Already the new pet insurance denied coverage at emergency when I took him in and he now has an exclusion on his new policy which I am going to fight if the vet clears him from these two potential issues.  He's been fine since he recovered.  We are still looking at either a food allergy, flea allergy or hyperthesia.  He becomes very reactive when touched at times and will bite, hoping his neuter will dampen down some of these behaviors.

Next week, I face going to renew my ID with the division of motor vehicles and taking kitty in for his neutering, so that will be a very stressful week ahead.  Will need to do some planning to help the emotions that will be dredged up.
