dirtywonderful
I am taking 450mg wellbutrin xl. I have two copays because my insurance will only pay for a certain amount of pills. So, I have to take 150mg and 300mg together. I take them both in the morning. I am broke (like the rest of you) and I cant afford 2 $30 copays. I am changing doctors and my GP will call me in a script. Anyway, I was going to ask her to call me in generics (XL or SA- doesnt matter to me). Is there a generic 150? I think I can handle 300mg am and 150 at night- SA. I have only seen people take 300 at a time with the XL. What about the SA? Does that make sense? -dirty
NARS
I was using 450 of the XL for about 3 months last summer (after being on 300mg SR for over 5 years), and I took all 450 (one 300 and one 150) in the morning. There is a generic bupropion that comes in 100, 150 or 300. There's also an ER version that comes in 150, maybe other dosages, but I don't know how well that works when compared with the brand name XL, but I imagine it must maintain more even levels than the SR. I went off the XL and reduced it at the same time because of mania (I'm BP), but I suspect it's a good way to take it for depression. Generic SR seemed to me to work the same as the brand name SR. I took my SR twice a day, 150 in the morning and 150 mid-afternoon. My pdoc always had me split it for more "coverage." I never could take it at bedtime and still sleep soundly. My understanding is that you should wait 7-8 hours between doses, so I generally took my pm dose between 3 and 4:00 and did fine.
Greenyflower
I'm also on Wellbutrin XL at 450 mgs. My doc prescribed it so that I get 90 150-mg pills each month, for one co-pay. BUT, if he had prescribed both the 150 and the 300, my insurance would have charged 2 co-pays. SOooo, check with your insurance people. It could work this way for you, too. Becca
I used to take generic 150 ERs. I actually started on the generic and only switched to the name brand because that's what my new psych wrote the prescription for and I didn't really care. They both seemed to work the same for me. Bianca
The XL don't come in a generic form. Do you have mail order from your job? Also like they've said above do a 90 day rx vs 30 day.
dirtywonderful
Thanks you guys. That really helps me. I would like to add my new dr is an idiot. I just had to get that off my chest. Is there a place where we can complain about our doctors? I want others to know not to go to him. I was so mad at him the other day when he didnt call me back, ever, even when I was crying on the vmail and all) .I was thinking of some very mean things to do (hide a dead fish in the waiting room's flowers). Do you do that too? Maybe it's just me. Also, if you have some ideas.. I'm listening! -Dirty
