Loon-A-TiK
I've had this "new" pdoc for 3 months. Already she's cancelled twice, and once was my mistake. I haven't seen a mental health person for 3 months. Already, I'm in an anxious mixed state from hell. I'm starting to pull out of it, but still, she's unreliable. I need someone consistent. I owe my previous pdoc about $400, however he has weekend hours (will be much better for work) and is a VERY good doctor. he charges $80 per visit, and I'm weighing if it is worth it to try to pay him what I owe and his monthly charges. OR I could try another person in this lady's group who has night hours. I still don't know- the latest they are open is 6 and I can't be there until 6. I feel so lost in this pdoc confusion! I don't need this on top of my already confused mind
Beth
I had the same problem with a past pdoc. You really should try someone else, especially since you really need to right now. I would say go to your previous pdoc since he's good, and you don't know how a new person will be. Go with what's reliable. Even though it's costly, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do it.
Dweii
Mental health is worth spending money on. Really. I'm hoping you will come out of mixed land hell soon!
chinacat
I am trying to start with my THIRD pdoc in 6 months in this hell hole I call "home".
dirtywonderful
Loon-A-TiK. If you can afford to pay your old doc, do it. You are going to have to pay it anyway, right? I had to take a loan out trying to find a good doc. I am on #3 now. We need a place to post all the good docs by area. That would save time and money. Loon-A-TiK
I like the idea of posting all good pdocs by place! Hey --> Powers That Be! Hear our Prayer! lol ChinaCat- You must live in the middle of BFE!!! The hospital always works! I've found all my good pdocs that way! Life is so overwhelming. Who says WE'RE the "crazy" people? what about people who don't seem to react to life? I'm going to try this LAST pdoc/nurse practitioner at the clinic, the only one who has late hours, and see how he is. Hey, it is free, and my mom goes to him and likes him (also BP1). If that doesn't go well, then back to the old pdoc I go. I do pay him, just at my own slow pace, and I could speed it up if I had to. Mental health is what keeps us together. I've felt very "untogether" lately. It is time for action.
chinacat
Listen--I have been in Winn-Dixie's that were more theraputic than the crazy ward at the Hospital in Deland, FLA. which of course IS Bum-Fucking-Nowhere. Scary--this is a nasty, mean, ugly, redneck town--and if ever a place needed good psychiatric care, and had plentry of potential clients, its this fuckin hole. You'd think the beach/resort thing would attract them. But NOOOOOOO-- I want to go home--and I don't even know where that is anymore-- china--feeling deeply sorry for herself, in great pain and psychic misery at this moment. BlackCat
Loon, I agree on maybe staying with the doc you like and paying what you can, if he allows. Mine does. I went to a different Pdoc thinking she might be more available to me. The old one only works part time really and does not have any set hours. So, I go to the new one 4 times and the last time was because i called due to a horrrendous mixed state. The secretary, got me in..then the new doc asks if i have a hobby..kintting? Welll..I am going back to my old Pdoc , who is also aware of my sensitive body chemistry w/ meds. Sometimes it CAN get worse. But if you can find a good Pdoc at the free clinic, that would be good, too.
