Lexapro not working for anxiety?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys....

I'm not sure if i should put this here or over in the anxiety bit of the board...

I've been on Lexapro for about six - seven weeks now, i've got to see my doctor either tomorrow or on Thursday to talk about the effectiveness and a new script. I'm currently using Lexapro to treat social anxiety/phone phobia and heavy depression and i'm not sure it's really working that well for either. I admit i am feeling better, but just a week and a bit ago i spent five days in bed unable to do anything, and at the moment i'm supposed to be calling two people but i've just put my phone on divert and i'm trying my utmost to avoid it - it's really freaking me out.

I think he may want to increase my dosage, but i'm not quite sure if it's the wrong drug or wrong dose. On the same par with the depression i spent five days out constantly partying and being social, with almost no sleep or food... i felt really social then - i didn't even sleep one night at home last week.

Can anyone relate to this? Is Lexapro not compatible with me? My doc is a kind-of quiet guy, he doesn't say much, or suggest much... I'd like to know what other peoples thoughts are on the effectiveness of Lexapro with anxiety + depression. I lack patients and i really want things to change now.

    Thanx for any replies!

Justin

I have only been on Lex for 5 weeks now and the first two of those I was still discontinuing off Cymbalta.  At that time I felt great then once I stopped the C I kinda slumpt.  I'm taking 10mg and my pdoc suggests I stay on 10mg.  I'm trying another month and then see what happens.  Sometimes you come to a period where you drop again before you level out.  I believe this.  Pdocs will say thats false but hey are they the one's taking the drugs.  My anxiety has really calmed down but I've been taking klonopin on a regular basis.  Maybe a benzo might help you.  Have you ever looked into that?

Whats your av of? I remember watching those clips of him but I forget the website or his name to search on it...

I see my p-doc today and we'll see what she does.  She has told me that she has some patients on as high as 60 mg. lex, but I'd probably fall asleep at that dose.  She is known for her expertise with bipolar disorder, so I am hoping for some improvement to the depression now as the anxiety and hypomania seem to have gone away, for the most part. She's also talked about maybe increasing my Abilify or trying Lamictal.

Justin are you bipolar? It sounds like it.

For me Lexapro takes away night terrors/awakenings and panic attacks. Other than that doesn't seem to help much with depression and general anxiety. I think a mood stabilizer needs to be added to my lineup. Risperdal isn't doing it.
