Latuda has gone generic, but it's not available in pharmacies yet. Does anyone have any idea when it will be available in pharmacies?

I'm seriously considering switching to it when I see my pdoc either 2 weeks from now, or, if I can, bump up my appointment to next week, and if it will be available in pharmacies by then, I'd like to be prescribed Latuda. But if it's still brand-name only by then, I can't afford the $636 copay even with the even with the copay coupon which only covers up to only a certain amount.

I just checked my CVS Caremark app. There is a section where you can check drug costs and generic availability. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show latuda as a generic yet. But other pharmacies may carry it sooner. This is just the one we have to use because it makes AAP’s much cheaper.

But I too would be interested in trying it again, only this time I’d have clozapine in place so I hopefully wouldn’t get manic and psychotic again. I don’t know if clozapine and latuda are ok together. But I will ask my pdoc. When I see it generic on my CVS Caremark app.

Why did you stop latuda before? You don’t have to answer. I was just trying to get a clearer picture. Sorry for I’m being too wordy.

I tried it and got up to 160 mg. But I wasn’t on any sedating AAP’s with it. But I think I’d be fine now to take it. YMMV of course.

I agree that the regular cost even with their “savings” coupon is ridiculous. We had to do mail order for it, but mail order has gone up in price and we can’t afford brand name through that anymore even.

Would the plan be to replace the abilfy you are on and get onto latuda?

I know you have been struggling a lot lately. I hope those pharmacy companies get their butts in gear and get this generic version out ASAP. You don’t deserve to suffer any longer. I know latuda is supposed to be helpful for bipolar depression. I hope your pdoc prescribes it for you!

Oh. and I have been keeping my eye out for generic Saphris. But no luck. Would that be an option for you too? I think I see that you already tried it but I’m not sure. I loved that med but hated the night time binge eating side effects. I gained weight and thought it was like a mini zyprexa almost. Sure it worked great for me, but at what cost? But most people I’ve talked to say it’s weight neutral for them. ?!?! I guess again YMMV.

Sorry if this was not helpful. I just thought of this. I just want to help any way I can. I feel very bad for you. You always are so helpful to everyone. ❤️

I'm not really sure why i stopped it. The first time I think I stopped it because of akathisia, the second time because I was on Stelazine with it and I just liked the Stelazine better, and then... I duinno... lol.

Yes, I want to get off Abilify. Abilify has helped me immensely, but it has made me gain weight over time and caused me to have an impulse control disorder (which subsequently caused me to rack up >$12,000 in credit card debt). I think I need to be on a dopamine antagonist rather than a dopamine partial agonist.I could probably try Vraylar again, but the picture is the same with the copay and whatnot, and it didn't help much with depression and the akathisia and RLS symptoms were awful.

Thank you! I hope they do too. I know my pdoc wouldn't have any problem prescribing it to me. If she has any samples left over, I know she would let me have some too. Usually when a medicine is about to go generic, though, the drug reps stop going by and giving out samples though.

Oh yeah, that was another one I was looking out for too. It's supposed to be generic in either this December or December 2020, can't remember which. Yes, it would be an option for me. I haven't taken it for a main AAP before, just for sleep, but I would consider taking it for my main AAP because it helped me quite well with my anxiety and depression while I was taking it for sleep. The only thing about it is that it started to make me feel dysphoric and weepy after a while, and that's why I had to stop taking it.

I didn't gain weight on Saphris, I actually was losing weight at the time because I was on the keto diet. I managed to lose 50 lb that summer. Man.... I wish I could get my butt in gear and do that again. I have about 90-100 lb to lose to get to my goal weight now... There's something wrong with my thyroid, pituitary, or my hypothalamus, I think... My lab results consistently show low T4 AND low TSH... That's usually indicative of central hypothyroidism... Or it could be my thyroid is just shutting down and my TSH is suppressed from the levothyroxine.

I too hope to get off Abilify. I feel it does definitely cause impulse issues. At least in me and you too! Abilify was/is helpful but I don’t know if it’s doing anything after 10-11 years on it. I feel it is making me full of rage too.

I’m sorry you have so much credit card debt. I do that too. $800 on boutique yarn and fabric. ?! I don’t know how to sew!

Can anyone help you chunk away at the debt? Then you could pay them back to avoid interest.

Do you have a good endocrinologist? I have a fabulous one. He listens to my symptoms and goes from there. Even though my TSH was like 2.6 or so this time (which is high normal, I guess?) I reported symptoms and he increased my levothyroxine anyway. And I do feel a little better. So if you can find a good specialist, they are worth their weight in gold!

My mom may be able to help me, but we're kinda striving for money atm.

I do have an endocrinologist. I see him two days from now.

Oh, and have you had an ultrasound on your neck to look at your thyroid? I had two done. They concluded I had excess tissue around my thyroid but nothing to worry about. No nodules, just excess tissue. Sometimes I do have swallowing problems. But nothing serious yet.

No thyroid ultrasound, but there were no thyroid antibodies in my bloodwork so I dunno if that's of any concern to him. He may do that eventually though.

I have no idea. They even had an extension for indication for pediatric bipolar disorder.

Abilify is generic, it went generic back in 2015 I think. I filled one brand-name Abilify for $5, and the next time I filled it, it was generic, and my copay back then for generics was I think $20. Now it's $30 for generic aripiprazole.
