When do you know if it's bad enough?

Recommended Posts

Was manic for a few months. A week or so ago I just dropped down. Way down. I'm so tired. I was just numb at first. Now I'm sad and slow. Foggy brained. Thought about the world without me. That scared me. I'm getting tough love support from the wife. Taking all meds as I should be. Trying to stay positive.

How will I know if I just need to chat with a specialist who handles deep depressive people considering doing bad things?

Thoughts about the world being without you—even if they scared you—is definitely enough.  You could probably even say earlier.

Do you have a therapist you can talk with about it?.......Have you told pdoc about these thoughts?

You should definitely bring these thoughts to the attention of your pdoc and tdoc. It's a serious sign that you are approaching the bottom. You need treatment to prevent an extended and perhaps fatal episode.

Hate tdocs... Never found therapy helpful. What do they do to you if you call a crisis line?

If you're feeling that bad a trip to the psychiatric hospital isn't a bad idea. I did 9 days in one back in Oct. was scary at first, you room with someone but if didn't go might be dead from Lamictal completely failing on me...the withdrawal was unimaginable...

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number is 1-800-273-8255.....

This link tells you how the process works:     https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/....Scroll down the page until you see "What happens when you call the Lifeline?", and click on the "+" below it to find out more.

This service is available 24/7.

Also, what about your pdoc, have you told the doc about these thoughts you're having?.....If not, I would strongly suggest doing so.

I just saw my new pdoc a week ago. I told him I wasn't sure how I was feeling. Kinda numb.

I'll  check that suicide prevention page.I can't go to hospital...I would lose my job.I'm just a temp.and it would be too expensive. Sigh. I just want to sleep. Lots.

Even if you are seeing a new pdoc, I would still suggest calling his office, and letting him know about these thoughts...

Yes, please check out the link, and please call if you feel you are in danger of harming yourself......The service is completely confidential.

Please do something.....You have people who care about you, and we here on CB would certainly be very sad if you ended your life.

You really don't want to end your life, you just want the pain to stop.......Again, please do something.

We are here for you on CB.......Please don't leave us.

Keep calling....It is a pdoc's job to talk to you when you're having the kinds of thoughts you mentioned......When I call my docs office, I get a call back the same day most of the time........

Do they never call you back?......Or do you have to wait several days or more for a call?

These are things that might mean a manic episode is starting.........IMO, it might be a good idea to let doc know about this, too.
