skipping daily benzos on the weekend?

Recommended Posts

I’m finding that my benzo on the weekend just makes me tired because I don’t have much anxiety going on.  I have some, but it’s mild enough that I don’t think the benzo has much to counteract.  During the week I keep it busy.

anyone done a weekend-free approach?

(please no suggestions for different benzos...I’ve done a lot of sampling and this works best for me at least at this point.)

No, I personally haven't done this......

I do remember one occasion where I forgot to take my night dose of clonazepam....The next morning I was experiencing very rapid heartbeat and elevated anxiety.

When I took my morning dose of clonazepam, I felt almost immediate relief.

If you are used to taking a daily benzo, I don't think it's a good idea to skip days, because you might get some withdrawal symptoms.

I have never taken xanax. I used to take klonopin 1 mg nightly. When I was in the hospital they took me off it abruptly and I felt seasick, dizzy in the morning.  Not anything terrible but unpleasant.

Yes.  But I was only prescribed it prn. I never needed more than .5 mg of clonazepam and I never needed a lot of ativan either.  I found it helped with work anxiety.  It just isn't necessary especially if I am not doing anything on the weekend.

I don't think 2 days off in 5 days will stave off dependence. It is likely to make you experience withdrawal. Try something like only taking klonopin MWF. The only real way to know is to test it.
