Thought ive posted this before but couldnt find it.

Ive searched healthgrades and vitals.com and google review called a the major hospital...........seems no one is accepting new patients. Even with a referral from my concussion team, that said they could expedit things.

Now a company called quarter, that works with health providers to find their patients mental health care is involved. They claim a visit in 1-2 weeks. 2-3 yearas ago when i needed a doc, another doc refferred me to them and they gave me no help

any suggestion

Found this recent thread of yours that's similar?

Normally for specialists I get referrals from a GP. My current GP who works within a major health system recently gave me three possible gynecologists to see who would be extra gentle and kind, and when I looked them up. none work within the same health system as her which I found kind of surprising but I'm glad she would refer me to who she thinks would be best for me rather than feel constrained by the health system she works for.

I found my pdoc originally 17 years ago because I was having a major crisis sort of out of the blue (had been in remission from a different disorder for a few years when a new one popped up) and I told a friend and she gave me the name of her pdoc who was in private practice. Been seeing her (pdoc) ever since (though sometimes I only saw her once or twice a year when I was in college out of state and just needed med refill check ups).

I noticed after awhile my pdoc's voicemail message changed to "not currently accepting new patients unless referred by a doctor". Then eventually it changed to a stern "please be aware I am not currently accepting new patients" and it's been that way for years now (though I suspect she must still take on some new patients to replace her patients that drop off the map for various reasons).

So basically I'm pretty sure I just lucked out that her private practice was relatively new-ish 19 years ago when she took me on. Thankfully I've maintained contact with her at least once a year even when things were fine and continued to pay OOP all these years (she charges a very reasonable fee IMO). Unfortunately I've always had to pay OOP to see her until the past few years when I went on disability and got medicare because she actually does accept medicare. I think she only accept BCBS and medicare (and not BCBS marketplace plans by the way), or cash pay. And I've never been lucky enough to have BCBS, even when I had a good job; they only offered Aetna and United Healthcare plans. So yeah, even the couple times in my life I did have insurance, she never took it.

Sorry, none of this probably helps you. Just sharing my experience I guess and I feel for you because I have a great pdoc but she officially (according to her voicemail) stopped taking on new patients years ago because she's all booked up.

So i had called my concussion doctor back after his referral. He fired off a few messages to the psych department in the hospital. Called me and said I will call you when and if I hear something, no promises.

That was yesterday. This morning the Dept of Psychiatry called me and said that they are going to ask the Dr if he will see me. That if he says no, would I be open to seeing a 3rd year resident that works under said Dr., I said yes, she said wonderful we will work it out let me talk to the Dr. and I will call you back. I told her how the medical team was concerned about the meds, and  she said "oh, oh my, ok l'll be in touch"

The neurologist told me I have so many medication interactions b/w my meds its scary. That I have to be extremely careful adding anything new into my medications. She wanted to add a med but didnt due to interactions.

I almost started a thread on the same topic.   I have a friend in need of a pdoc and I agreed to help out.  My usual source is psychology today.  Any other better options out there?  She has medicare.

Thank you. There’s google reviews, yelp, healthgrades, vital.com

but again reviews r taken with a grain of salt, especially psych ones imho.

do they qualify for this

Thanks!  I think no if I understand things correctly.  She already had a hodgepodge of physical medicine providers.

I’ll poke around a little bit more.  I can’t imagine that they’re free.  So I can see what the details are.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Interesting

The first time I had little success. This time they claim they will call me next week to set up. So one week to find someone, we’ll see though

@dancesintherain

Is Quartet really free?

Yes. Quartet’s care matching and related services come at no extra cost to you. As with any insurance-covered services, you will be responsible for expected copayments or cost-sharing fees associated with appointments, based on your insurance coverage. Quartet attempts to match you with a mental health provider who is participating in-network with your insurance; however, Quartet cannot guarantee that you will not be charged any fees in addition to a copayment or cost-share.  Any questions about these costs should be directed to your insurance company or mental health provider.

really i think you need a PCP to make a referral to them, but I THINK if you contact them, they can reach out to your PCP

Thanks!  I found five between zocdoc and psych today, so I’m going to need to keep looking.  I gave her the site and suggested she try it.

Problem is here there’s doctors, no one is accepting clients, or it’s 3-6 months to get in! Good luck

Yep, that’s why the five is so disheartening.

Like I said good luck! It’s a shame. I don’t think telemedicine is the best. I posted a thread on it, but much reply. But on doctorsondemand.com you can get a psych eval in under a week.......

if actually do it if it wasn’t for the med situation.
