Started Pristiq, HORRIFYING migraines?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have never had migraines and don't generally get headaches. I started Pristiq 50mg and within a day I started to have this horrible migraine that is centered in the back of my head, almost the base of my skull/neck area. This has lasted solidly for almost a week. Just the most debilitating migraine. I've been taking advil and tylenol. It suppresses it for a while, but it's still there (if that makes sense). When the painkillers wear off, it comes back just as strong. I've been on every antidepressant out there. I really want to stick this out......IF there's any hope it will resolve on it's own? Has anyone experienced anything similar on Pristiq, and lived to tell? I need some encouragement from those who have had these horrible migraines with Pristiq, suffered through it, and then after a while everything went back to normal. I would prefer to not go back to any of the meds I've tried before. Like I said, I've tried them all (over a 20 year period) and really want this one to work. Thanks.

I've had some headaches starting pristiq, but I've had a lot of migraines just from Depression, I think they go together.

I've never had that med but at this stage I feel like anything goes with side effects from a new med. My 1st day on abilify I fainted in the kitchen and freaked out my husband. In the same week had to call hubby home from work one afternoon because I got a debilitating migraine. Lost half my sight. It was really weird because I rarely ever get migraines.
