Sertraline or fluoxetine, probably more so sertraline, especially in combination with a secondary amine TCA.

I loved that combination (TCA+SSRI). I took sertraline with doxepin with great results. (sertraline AM and doxepin PM). I'm wondering which TCA hit's the most dopamine. We narrowed it down to a serotonin and secondarily a dopamine issue. Norepinephrine reuptake just makes me skittish.

Yes, this sertraline + desipramine combo has been a godsend for me. It doesn't work super fantastically, but it works the best of any combo I've taken. I'm very treatment resistant.

Norepinephrine reuptake inhibition actually indirectly increases dopamine in the frontal cortex.

The TCA with the most dopamine reuptake inhibition in nortriptyline, but it is still orders of magnitudes less than how it acts on serotonin and norepinephrine. Nortriptyline is primarily a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and secondarily a serotonin reuptake inhibitor at higher doses, being a secondary amine TCA.

Hmm. Was on fluoxotine for a while, which made me feel great, for about a week, then doom, death and fucking misery. Switched to sertraline. I think I started on 50mg. Worked it's way up to 150mg. I'm not sure it does shit to be honest. I think it's one third of people for whom they don't do anything. I guess they've provided a crutch of sorts, even if it's just a crutch made of the placebo effect. I'm depressed Doc! Fill out this questionnaire. The questionnaire says you're depressed. Take these pills and come back in 4 weeks. She was like an angel! Oh wait. I spelled arsehole wrong. An arsehole! She was like an arsehole! Sertraline FTW!

Was on Sertraline (300mg max), then Fluoxetine (80mg).

Then Sertraline 50mg+Wellbutrin 300mg.

Then Fluoxetine 20mg+Wellbutrin 300mg.

Liked them both. Fluoxetine was a little bit more “stable” but they both are great,

Escitalopram was bad, sort of worsened my depression.

No experience with the others.

That Sertraline Nortriptyline Combo sure has its fans :)

Probably Nortriptyline: strong 5HT2 antagonism and no Dopamine antagonism.

Otherwise, if you don't want NRI properties: probably Mirtazapine / Mianserin...

Yep! Dr. Gillman (psychotropical.com) is a huge fan of it. I'm more partial to desipramine and protriptyline personally though. But it's a very effective combination!

Precisely.

With mirtazapine/mianserin, you'll still get some noradrenergic effects, but the "giddiness" of it may be masked by the strong sedation it causes.

Also, welcome to CB @Skeletor!

I am going with the wonderful paroxetine hydrohloride  at 30mg every day. I take it for social anxiety, panic disorder and generalized anxiety. Without it I am so reserved and unsocial, afraid to talk with people or even go to class where the room is filled with over 50 other students, my thoughts race and I get panic attacks over things like leaving my house to get groceries, going to a family dinner or cookout, and sometimes the anxiety stems from my negative thinking patterns (i.e.  thinking about your appearance and then "reading people's mind" since I will tell myself that others must be thinking I look like a fool, stupid, or laughing at me) which in turn make my physical anxiety symptoms worse and more noticeable.

When this occurs is the only time I should ever be using my alprazolam extended release, however, my physician prescribed it as one 3mg alprazolam extended release every morning. I am just afraid to take it everyday because then I will eventually addicted to it no doubt. I already have been in treatment for abusing benzodiazepines  twice so I am very hesitant to take even the extended release xanax every now and then. I should mention that it is a very different drug than regular xanax. The extended release alprazolam has almost no high feeling at all, it feels super smooth and clean, and I don't have urges to take multiple of them at once.
