i used to have a fear of developing schizophrenia, and sometimes it  arises again,no matter how hard i work in therapy. My late father suffered from it so that probably plays a huge part in it.

My pdoc says it is actually a very common OCD fear and obsession.

Your all over chances of getting one of these is pretty low, you probably have more pressing matters.

When I was diagnosed with bipolar I used to think, well thank god I don’t have schizoaffective/schizophrenia... Then I was re-diagnosed with schizoaffective in 2013.

Does any mental illness run in your family do u know ?

If you don't have a family history then it's pretty unlikely. I did develop psychosis but I have multiple immediate family members who have some form of it.

In the unlikely event that you did develop psychosis, it wouldn't be the end of the world. You would find ways to treat and manage it just like with your OCD.

I know.. I keep running to different psychiatrist with this fear but I see it’s a very common theme of ocd . Glad you overcame ❤️
