Nuvigil taper. Give up or persist?

I’m tired. Like sleeping 12 hours and wanting to just lay around or nap for the rest of the day tired. I’m only on my 3rd week of reducing my nuvigil dose by a mere 50 mg. But I’ve been on it for probably 6 years you see. I’m hooked.

If I give in and call my sleep dr, it means an in the clinic night sleep study to make sure I still don’t have sleep apnea and a daytime sleep study.

The day one would be to confirm hypersomnia because my last stupid day study was inconclusive because I was in the sleep study room that shared a wall next to the daycare next door and all I heard was screaming kids. So I fell asleep at 9 minutes instead of 8 minutes for an official diagnosis of hypersomnia or narcolepsy all 5 “naps.” And my sleep dr is a stickler for the rules. Ridiculous.

In 2 more weeks I’m to go down to 100 mg nuvigil, down another 50 mg. Do I give up and do the sleep studies or persist with this taper? Help?

I am SO frustrated. I am SO tired. Yet I had 4 glasses of diet mountain dew and a venti coffee from Starbucks. And I'm sitting here barely able to stay awake. I just want to go to bed for the night. ARGH I hate not knowing what to do. I don't know what is the right call here. Stupid meds.

It sounds like you might need to call the doc, becuase it seems like your functioning is being affected
