dancesintherain
My governor was apparently quite ticked off that his formal order restricting to essential businesses did not get followed and prevent the infections. So, today he kicked it up a notch. Officially stay at home, excluding certain things like I can take a walk around my neighborhood or go to the grocery store. I can pay a food delivery service (if there's a food delivery service person who wants to be working). But most things are temporarily off-limits. I'm glad he did it to be honest. Apparently two very geographically close states decided to do the same today. I'm curious if they coordinated things or if it's just random. I'm not paranoid about it being either way--I'm just curious. I had therapy by phone today and it went well. This was the second phone session. We managed to cover a good deal of what I wanted to cover. There were a few "table this and talk about it later" conversations, but that happens. I'm not sure if this is the right place for a post. I think I'm just curious about who else is shelter in place and how they've been doing with it.
Antecedent
I'm in the same situation, our restrictions are the same I think. Most people are taking it very seriously here, thank goodness. I don't really mind because I am a home bird. I have lots of things around the house and online I can be doing. After they closed schools and entertainment our % new infections dropped dramatically, exactly 2 weeks and 1 day later. It was so good to see it had worked. So it should peak 2 weeks after our full lockdown started. I hate going to the supermarket though. I have ADHD and no matter how hard I try I always forget to keep my distance from people or forget and touch something that I'm not going to buy. Or I suddenly realize I've taken my gloves off before leaving the shop. When you don't have hand sanitizer gloves are handy, you can put them on before you go in, so if it was on your hands you won't spread it to anyone ,and you can take them off after you go out because if you picked it up in there you won't now touch your face accidentally with those hands Edited March 31, 2020 by Antecedent
confused
Similar, stay at home except essentials, apparently I am an essential employee. I wish I was not. My office mate and I talk about our fears. It is a residential facility. I am terrified of an outbreak. 80 beds, it would be bad. We take temps before shift and resident vitals daily. She is worried we will be quarantined in the building. Other than work and walking the dog, I am at home. Kids are online schooling 18 and 21 they take care of themselves. My husband grocery shops. We take our temps at home too. My husband also goes into work. Yesterday, The computers were down, my group was cancelled so I was done early. My boss was in a meeting, I went home early, no reason to hang around there. I doubt they will be upset. I will find out tomorrow. I have a scheduled day off today to do an online training. I think we have had this order for 2 weeks? I can’t keep track of time anymore. I like our governor, but Trump does not because we are a blue state, I think withholding life saving supplies for political reasons is genocide. People are dying because of his inaction. stay safe, I am very fortunate, people in my area get bored but I think being bored in a pandemic is ideal. Gearhead
We are under a shelter in place order, but the governor is softballing it so badly that I wrote an outraged email to him telling him that crafting stores and gun shops are not fucking essential businesses. I haven’t left the house for anything other than food or pharmaceuticals in two weeks. And dog walking. Lotta happy dogs. My husband’s business is closed by law until the first of April, so we’re not going anywhere before then. And I wouldn’t exactly be destroyed to see the SIP order extended. There haven’t been a hell of a lot of cases here so far. It would be nice to keep it that way.
dancesintherain
We're up over 1600 cases with 18 people dead, so I can understand why the governor is a bit ticked off that people don't seem to care more. I'm glad he took the extra steps. Though like @Gearhead, it seems like it's a bit lax on what counts as essential. He's made it even fewer businesses this time, though. I know people are worried about the economy, but there won't be an economy if we don't survive this thing. @confused, I can't imagine how stressful it would be to be in your shoes right now. I get anxious enough with my errands that I run. I wish you the best. I wish I could do more than that.
sugarsugar
I am semi sheltering. Part of my job is essential and I need to go in. The other parts of my work I do from home. I get groceries delivered. It seems to be working in my state.

I think I'm just curious about who else is shelter in place and how they've been doing with it. Here in my state, there are 4509 confirmed cases, 772 hospitalizations, and 121 deaths as of today....I wish they would post the number of people who have gotten corona and recovered, though.....There seem to be 3 distinct hotspots here....I'm in one of them.....My county has 179 cases, and the next county over has more than 300 cases....**SIGH** On March 30, my state Gov issued a "stay-at-home" order for us until June 10, although he says order could be lifted sooner, or extended, depending on circumstances....There are quite a few exceptions though....We can go to grocery stores, go get drive-thru food, pharmacies, drive-thru banking, for medical care, or veterinary care for animals....People can go to gas stations, and also go to pet food stores.....Liquor stores are being allowed to remain open, too....It is also legal for someone to visit a relative (unless they are in a nursing home or assisted living facility). Public parks are still open, although beaches have been closed except for fishing and exercising, as long as social distancing is observed, and no mass gatherings occur........Gov says public parks and beaches could be totally closed if people don't observe the social distancing rules. The use of cloth face masks while in public has been strongly recommended....Exercising outside is allowed as long as social distancing is observed...........People working in "essential services" are allowed to leave home to go to work (Health care workers, grocery store workers, electricians, plumbers, construction workers, etc)......Also, it is strongly recommended that people 65 and older not leave their homes at all, except to exercise on their own property. I think "Shelter in Place" orders are a bit different than "Stay At Home" orders, although I'm still not sure what the difference is. dancesintherain
my county has 1716 :-( we're the worst in the state (fortunately or unfortunately). I don't know about shelter in place versus stay at home. interesting to know if someone knows. it's still an exponential growth situation. no flattening. or maybe it is flatter than it would have been otherwise, which I don't even want to consider.
