Family dinners? Social distancing?

Recommended Posts

Husband wants to have family dinner at his parents house. There would be 8 total of us. I don’t think this is very wise considering the amount of people and the fact that his mother has health complications due to being a heavy smoker and diabetic.

Am I being too over cautious by saying we shouldn’t go? Or am I doing the right thing? He needs a haircut too though. And his mom or sister usually do that. He says I have to do it if we don’t go over there. I don’t think I can.

I can't speak for your area. But going to dinner would be against local regulations, with potential $1600 fine here.

Only get close to the people in your house. No wider than that, even if they birthed you.

Everyone needs a haircut. There are worse things in life.

we've been told no social gatherings right now. for the sake of everyone's health, but particularly those at risk like your mother-in-law, it's best to stay home. you're not being overly cautious at all -- you're doing exactly what officials have told us to do.

Stay home. It’s the safest thing to do for ALL of you.

And everybody in the country is going to need a haircut in a few weeks’ time. My pixie cut is already showing signs of rebellion. It’s gonna get ugly around here.

Thank you guys. You are so right. I don't know why his family wasn't taking this seriously. Well his mom did I guess last minute. She cancelled this morning. So that's good. Husband is going over there with just his mom and getting a haircut. He isn't taking this seriously enough. I am freaked out about this fact.

Maybe if your family has computers or cellphones you could have a dinner by video meeting. My coworker is having a family Passover dinner that way. I think it’s a good compromise. And CDC now says general people wearing masks might help, if I understand correctly, so maybe his mom could wear a makeshift mask for the haircut visit. And everyone hand wash.
It is hard to be the lone voice.

I'm just letting my hair grow....It's long anyway, so a couple more inches won't hurt, I guess.........I do understand the frustration for those who like to keep their hair shorter, though........When all the salons are allowed to open again, stylists and barbers are going to be making tons of money, IMO.

I feel sorry for the people who get their hair colored....I guess they might turn to those root touch up kits....My sis gets her hair dyed blond (her natural hair is brown), and her dark roots are getting longer...
