onsenseal
Easter. Full streets. No one (besides me) wearing a mask/covering their face. Barely anyone keeping minimum distance. Did people forget that there is a pandemic? On the positive side, many of them are generously donating to the government in form of legal penalties for violating the lockdown. Maybe we can finance the crisis from their money?
Antecedent
I have a friend who is a Trump fan, spoiler tags for conspiracy theory: he thinks this whole thing is a hoax. I have a feeling that hypothesis was invented by government agents from certain countries because the more US people they can convince this is a hoax, the more the hospitals will overflow and the longer shutdown will have to keep going and the longer the economy will be paused.. and of course the more people will die, but I don't think they care about this. I regularly have nightmares now about people not physical distancing. It's so upsetting.
fantod
Experienced that around here on Easter, too, @onsenseal. I thought the churches were closed; every church I notice has a sign up saying "online services only". But so many people from my neighborhood went out to church someplace apparently and went to brunch or something and were talking in the parking lot about "lovely service" and how they have to do prayer group and like nothing's different. It's frightening.

They are opening up and slowly removing restrictions where I live. Politicians say: Just because you're allowed to do something, doesn't mean it's smart to do. Doesn't seem to work out too well.
Gearhead
Last night I had the first dream with details I can specifically remember about being horrified to realize I was out in public without a mask, and talking to a lady who assured me she wasn’t sick, but who had a cough and sniffles and runny nose. I backed away from her, then turned and fled. Finally had to break down and do a Target run yesterday, having been nowhere except the pharmacy and grocery store since March 19th. Going to Target never enhances my appreciation of the human race, but Jesus. Do none of you fucking idiots read the news? I estimate that fewer than half the people there were wearing masks, and I gather no one even knows what 6’ looks like. Also let your baby gnaw on the cart handle while she’s in the baby seat. @DogMan, good on you. It’s up to us to protect ourselves, since the governments are all doing such rousingly half-assed jobs.
